Pattern drafting
Draft clothing to your own measurements.
A course for those who want to understand how a garment is built, why it fits the body — and how to create patterns independently using the Müller & Sohn method.
The foundation for clothes that fit.
Over 12 sessions you will go from taking measurements to finished toiles and basic blocks that you can keep adapting to any idea.
- 01
The full journey — from measurements to toile
You take measurements, draft the pattern, cut, sew a toile and refine the fit. Everything is reinforced through practice straight away.
- 02
Basic blocks for your own figure
You will draft the basic blocks for a skirt, trousers, a blouse or shirt and a dress — from your own measurements, not standard sizes.
- 03
Understanding fit
You will learn to see why a garment fits or does not fit, and to find the solution through construction and the toile.
- 04
A small group
Up to 4 participants. Everyone has time for their own measurements, drafting and questions.
Course programme
- 01
Taking measurements
How to take measurements correctly, work with a table of standard values and analyse the characteristics of a figure.
- 02–03
Straight skirt
You draft the skirt to scale and full size from your own measurements. You cut it, assemble a toile, try it on and adjust the fit.
- 04–06
Straight trousers
The full cycle: a scaled diagram, a full-size draft, cutting, toile assembly and work on the fit.
- 07–08
Blouse or men's shirt
You draft the base of the garment and the sleeves, transfer the draft to full scale, then sew and adjust the toile.
- 09–11
Women's dress
You create the base for a dress with a waist seam, along with the sleeves, test the construction on a toile and refine the fit.
- 12
Finishing
Time to complete what you have started, ask questions and bring your toiles to a finished result.
